Scoring Big with Full Coverage of the PSA’s Men’s World Championship at Wadi Degla
With the biggest squash championship coming up, we couldn’t miss out on the opportunity to take part and leave quite the mark on such a big event. We teamed up with Wadi Degla Club, working on the Professional Squash Association’s (PSA) Men's World Championship, generating special content throughout the tournament with the use of a number of exclusive features.
It was the first time for this championship to be hosted by a club, and second time to be hosted in Egypt and the feedback from both the general and squash community, as well as the PSA team, was great.
During the event, Twitter’s Periscope live was activated, allowing us to capture various live moments… hence getting considerably high traction. Additionally, Twitter’s Q&A was used to engage with as many fans as possible from all across the world, and also to highlight the world’s top players.
Yes! We even succeeded in getting professional squash player Nicol David, ranked number one in 2016, to engage with the community through the use of a #asknicol hashtag. Maestro Amr Shabana, who was a former professional squash player and won the World Open throughout various years, and reached the world’s number one ranking in 2006, also engaged with the community through the hashtag #askshabana.
The campaign was full of relevant and beneficial informative content, and we had the famous Egyptian influencer Merna El Helbawi holding interviews with some of Egypt’s brightest squash stars, such as Mohamed El Shorbagy, Karim Darwish and Raneem El Walily.
Additional emotional material, full of passion for the game, was added to the content to reflect the on-ground feelings prevailing in and around the game court – with all the players and their families and loved ones, along with post matches’ special moments.
